Itineraries

An itinerary for Asia – Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand

This trip had the perfect mix:

1: Visit a city
Kuala Lumpur. Amazing city, with amazing food.
2: Visit a historical place
Angkor Wat. This is a must see, this should be on everyones bucket list.
3: Beach
I mean, who doesn’t want to end the vacation on an island like Koh Lipe. I sure do.

So, how do you plan a trip like this? As I’ve mentioned earlier, I do a lot of research. For this trip, I had all my flights and hotels booked before traveling. I was able to find really cheap return ticket to Kuala Lumpur and all my flights in Asia, was with Air Asia. Air Asia is a really nice low cost airline. I enjoyed all my trips with them. So this was our vacation:

– We spent 2 days in KL. It’s a cool place, but it’s easy to get around, so you’ll be able to explore quite a bit in 2 days. We also had another day at the end of our trip before heading home. If I have a return ticket to a place, I always make sure to have a day as a safety margin, you never know if something comes up and you’re all of a sudden a day late for you return.

– Flew to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Spent 3 days checking out the city and the temples.

– Flew to Penang, Malaysia. Penang does offer a lot of culture, but after being there, I wouldn’t say it’s a must if you don’t have the time. Amazing food, cool streets and a neat vibe. It also has amazing beaches not too far from the city George town.

– Flew to Langkawi. Langkawi is an amazing tropical island. The mix of nice beaches and tropical forrest does make Langkawi one of Malaysias top destinations. 4 days in Langkawi does cover a lot of the activities on the island.

– Ferry to Koh Lipe, Thailand. This was truly the highlight of our trip. I do love a mix when traveling, but after traveling for 2 weeks, I was ready for paradise. The ferry from Langkawi to Koh Lipe took about 1,5 hours. It’s two docks in Langkawi, so if you buy tickets beforehand, make sure you travel to the right dock.

– After Koh Lipe, we started our return journey. Ferry back to Langkawi, had a late flight to KL, just to make sure we would make it. KL for a day, before heading back to work.

So in total, this was a trip of 19 days. It was such a fun trip and totally recommend this route if these places interests you.
