Destinations,  What to do

Skopje

Skopje is the capital and the biggest city of the newly named North Macedonia. It is located in the central northern part of the country, divided into two parts by the river Vardar.

Interestingly, it’s called “the city of statues” and believe me, its gotten its nick name for a reason. There are statues literally everywhere. In fact, there are almost 300 statues all around the city. Do you want to make that the goal of your trip, trying to see them all? It for sure would have been fun to try!

How to get to Skopje

Skopje is well connected to the rest of Europe, making it quite easy to get to. Depending on where you are traveling from, there are several options on how to get there. The easiest option is by air. It has an international airport with several international departures every single day, so here you’ll have a lot of options.

Tips:

  • To book your flight, I recommend using a search engine, such as Momondo or Skyscanner, to check what airlines are flying and at what times
  • To book hotels, I prefer either Booking.com or Hotels.com
  • To get the most out of your trip, book an activity with GetYourGuide. They have so many great tours and I especially recommend it if your traveling alone! A great way to meet new people as well

So, what to see and do: I’ll keep it short and simple. If you are planning a visit to Skopje, here are my top 10 recommendations:
